We encourage everyone at the University to celebrate the success of first-generation college students, faculty, and staff on campus.

High School Students
High school students are invited to attend Villanova’s opening day ceremonies of “I’ll Be First.” This day will focus on access, leadership, and advancement in the area of higher education.  

Lunch will be provided (please RSVP). A panel of participants will discuss the college experience with current first-generation students.

The Privileged Poor: How Elite Colleges are Failing Disadvantaged Students

Ariella Robbins (Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) and Brian Galloway (Office of Student Retention Services) will lead a book discussion of the recent and much acclaimed research book, The Privileged Poor: How Elite Colleges are Failing Disadvantaged Students by Dr. Anthony Abraham Jack.
