Events and Workshops

ALL CASA EVENTS ARE SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. AD HOC OFFICE GUESTS WILL CONTACT STUDENTS WHO SIGNED UP TO MEET WITH THEM.


Program Requirements by Class Year

Students who will graduate in 2023 or 2022 must complete the following each semester:
 
  • 1 ACADEMIC event hosted by CASA
  • 1 SOCIAL event hosted by CASA
  • 1 VILLAGE event hosted by CASA
  • 1 #ADULTING101 event hosted by CASA (professional or life skills)

Substitute Credit: One event (academic, social, #adulting101) can be fulflled by an event not hosted by CASA.  To get credit for your attendance, get the Substitute Credit Form signed at the event and drop it off at the CASA office within 3 business days after the event.  

Students who will graduate in 2021 or 2020 must complete the following each semester:
 
  • 1 CASA SOCIAL or VILLAGE 
  • 1 CASA #adulting101 (formerly professional)
  • 1 substitute #adulting101 (formerly professional)*

*Substitute Credit: One of the #adulting101 event must be an event that is not hosted by CASA. To get credit for your attendance, get the Substitute Credit Form signed at the event and drop it off at the CASA office within 3 business days after the event. 

Events that count for #adulting101 must prepare students for internships, jobs, fellowships, year of service, and career exploration OR develop skills to help students navigate life after college.

Students in the following programs/courses only need to attend 1 VILLAGE MEETING:
  • ACE Program
  • ASPD course that is 2000 level or higher 
  • IGR course
  • SSLC 4th hour course

This exception only applies to the semester they are enrolled in that program/course.

Learn about different wines and tips on how etiquette tips on how to navigate alcohol in professional settings. This event is restricted to students who are 21 and over.

ACADEMIC - Getting Help from your Professor: A First-Generation College Goers Workshop
Thursday, March 19th, 12-1 pm, Dougherty West Lounge
Learn ways to get help and make a connection with your professors. There are often unspoken norms and rules for gaining the best supports. Learn tips on ways to get help for both academic and career advancement. Many of these tips can be applied beyond the classroom, to current and future work roles as well! This is a first-generation college going workshop, meaning a workshop tailored to students whose parents did not complete a 4-year college degree in the United States.

Wildcat Crossing Recognition Ceremony

Wildcat Crossing honors graduating seniors who embody diversity in all of its forms. It is designed for a group of people whose identity or story may be underrepresented in the narrative of our community. The event will include speakers and performances. Each participating student will receive a stole from their dean. A reception with light refreshments will follow.
