FAQs

Why are these changes being made to parking at Villanova?

Given the ongoing transformation of our campus, the Parking Office—with the help of parking consultants and through benchmarking with peer universities—has developed plans to meet our future parking needs. In addition, the opening of The Commons this fall and the new Performing Arts Center in early 2020 will require adjustments in how we assign spaces, accommodate visitors and enforce parking regulations.

What are the main parking changes going to be in Fall 2019?

The I-1 Parking Garage will now be the primary facility used by eligible resident students, commuter students and visitors to campus. In all other lots, license plate recognition (LPR) technology will be used to aid in our enforcement efforts. For visitors to campus or those who do not have a permit, there will be a fee to park in the garage (first hour is free; maximum is $20 per day) upon exiting the garage. Payment can be made at the pay station kiosk inside the garage or if necessary at the gate with a credit card. An attendant will be on duty during day and evening hours to assist.

How will parking in the I-1 Garage work for eligible resident students?

Resident students may only park on the top two levels of the I-1 garage. Upon entering the garage, resident students will have 15 minutes to proceed through the second gate located on the third level. If a resident’s vehicle enters the garage and doesn’t proceed to the upper level, the exit gate will not open and you will need to contact Public Safety to get out of the garage.

Who will be allowed to park on the other levels of the I-1 garage?

The lower three levels of the I-1 garage will be designated for commuter students and visitors. Like resident students, the technology in commuter student permits will open the gates to enter and exit the garage but will not allow access to the upper two levels.

If I don’t have a permit to park on campus, can I park in off-campus locations like the SEPTA lots?

We ask that you do not park in any off-campus locations, including the SEPTA lots, Villanova Center or surrounding neighborhoods. Student guests and resident students who bring a car temporarily can make parking arrangements in advance through the Parking Office. Faculty and staff who are hosting events should be in touch with the Parking Office as early as possible in their planning process to make the appropriate parking arrangements.

Additional FAQs will be added this summer. More information about the parking changes occurring in Fall 2019 will be sent via email in late June.
