Prevention of ASCVD in South Asians: Impact of Diet Modification and Physical Activity as Primary Intervention

South Asian (SA) ethnicity, which includes persons from India, Bangadesh, Butahn, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, is listed as an enhanced risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) in the 2018 Cholesterol Management Guidelines from the American Heart Association (AHA) et al.  Health practitioners may be unfamiliar with the dietary and lifestyle patterns of South Asians, limiting counseling effectiveness. This webinar will provide health practitioners with culturally appropriate diet and lifestyle recommendations and practical resources to help equip practitioners with culturally relevant counseling skills within the context of the AHA/American College of Cardiology heart healthy dietary patterns for their SA patients and clients.
