Hispanic/Latino Ministry

Buscamos Juntos

Mission Statement

Recognizing and celebrating the diversity of student faith experiences, Campus Ministry partners with student groups and with the wider Villanova community to provide opportunities for worship, service, and formation through and with the experience of Hispanic and Latin American Catholicism and other faith traditions.

Mass in Spanish

Mass in Spanish is celebrated each Saturday during the academic year.  Mass in Spanish is held in Corr Chapel at 5:30pm.  Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and all other Villanova community members are welcome to come and celebrate Mass with us.  Bilingual and Spanish language missals are available at each Mass.

Liturgical Ministers

Students are invited to participate in the different liturgical ministry roles available at the Spanish Mass.  Students may serve as lectors, altar servers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, liturgical musicians or singers, and in hospitality roles.  Please contact Irene Rivera in Campus Ministry if you are interested in serving as a liturgical minister for the Spanish Mass.

Campus Ministry hosts a monthly Cena de la Convivencia.  These dinners gather Villanovans to build community and celebrate Latin culture.  We also offer celebrations of important Latin American Catholic feast days, such as for La Virgen de Guadalupe and Nuestra Señora de la Divina Providencia.

Students can participate in service with local Hispanic communities as volunteers through Community Outreach of Villanova's (COV) ESL and Spanish computer classes.

This semester students can volunteer at Centro San Jose, Aquinas Center, or Augustinian Defenders of the Rights of the Poor (ADROP).  Students may serve at Centro San Jose in Upper Darby on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-9:30pm, ADROP's Spanish Computer Class on Tuesdays from 6-8:45pm, or at ESL classes at Aquinas Center in South Philly on Tuesdays from 5:45–9:10pm.

These various opportunities through COV primarily serve Hispanic and immigrant communities in South Philadelphia and Upper Darby.

Participation in COV is a semester long commitment to volunteer once a week at one of our partner organizations.  The volunteer times listed above include travel time to and from Villanova.  Students travel to service together every week using one of the Villanova vans.

For more information on serving through COV please contact Irene Rivera in Campus Ministry.
