Dr. Brian Matz
"When Wealthy People Become Thieves:  Christianity's Treatment of Superfluous Goods."

While strange to think wealthy people would ever resort to thievery, the history of Christianity's reflection on the nature of superfluous goods has led it to conclude that the hoarding of wealth is really stealing from those with unmet, physical needs. This lecture ranges from classical antiquity's distinction between the use and the ownership of goods, to early Christian views on particular kinds of superfluous goods, and to contemporary Christianity's concern with economic justice.
