Villanova University sophomore Mitch Macek, a Mathematics and Education double major from Felton, Pa., will appear on the Jeopardy! National College Championship, which begins Feb. 8 on ABC. Hosted by Mayim Bialik, the National College Championship features 36 college undergraduates from across the country. Macek will face off against Brandeis University junior Joey Kornman and Northwestern University senior Yejun Kim on Wednesday Feb. 9, in episode 2, quarterfinal game 4. Wednesday's coverage begins at 8 p.m. on ABC, with Macek competing at 8:30 p.m. Check local listings for details.

Macek grew up watching “Jeopardy!” with his family. Speaking with his hometown newspaper, The York Daily Record, he said that being on the program was a lifelong dream and that he prepped for the show by watching multiple "Jeopardy!" episodes per day and studying up on subjects he felt he didn’t know as well.

The winner of the competition will take home a $250,000 grand prize and the title of Jeopardy! National College Champion. Second place takes home $100,000, and third place leaves with $50,000. The remaining contestants will receive the following prizes: $35,000 (fourth place), $20,000 (8 semi-finalists eliminated) and $10,000 (24 quarter-finalists eliminated).
