Villanova University School of Law will host a hearing of the U.S. Senate Budget Committee on Monday, June 8 at 10:00 a.m. in the Martin G. McGuinn ’67 Ceremonial Court Room (Room 201). U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) will preside, and the hearing will discuss the Fairness for Crime Victims Act of 2015, which concerns the federal Crime Victims Fund.
The Crime Victims Fund supports services to victims of crime, through direct compensation to victims and by funding Child Advocacy Centers, domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, and other victim service groups. Those scheduled to provide testimony include: The Honorable Jack Whelan, District Attorney of Delaware County; Abbie Newman, Executive Director and CEO of Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center of Montgomery County; Diane Moyer, Legal Director of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape; and Peg Dierkers, Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
