Mark Kearney

A degree from Villanova Law launches careers at the most prestigious law firms, the country’s most successful businesses and the chambers of the nation’s courts. Alumni such as Mark A. Kearney ’84 CLAS, '87 VLS are proof that Villanova not only produces great lawyers, but also great leaders.

On December 3, 2014, the U.S. Senate confirmed President Obama’s nomination of Kearney to become a judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. An accomplished lawyer specializing in complex commercial litigation at the state and federal levels, Kearney most recently served as a shareholder at the law firm of Elliott Greenleaf & Siedzikowski, P.C. in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Previously, he worked at Elliott Mannino & Flaherty, P.C. and clerked for Vice Chancellor Maurice A. Hartnett, III, of the Delaware Court of Chancery. Kearney earned both his BA (1984) and his JD (1987) from Villanova University.

Gerald J. Pappert ’85, a fellow University undergraduate alumnus and Cozen O'Connor partner, was also confirmed by the Senate to serve as a U.S. District Judge in Philadelphia.

Kearney, who is regularly recognized as a top 100 lawyer in Pennsylvania and in Philadelphia, is the President of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and past President of the Montgomery Bar Association and Montgomery Bar Foundation, a director of Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania, and a member of Villanova Law’s Board of Consultors.
