The heart of a great law school is an outstanding faculty. At Villanova, you’ll learn from and be mentored by some of the most innovative minds in legal education, including Michelle Madden Dempsey, Associate Dean for Faculty Research and Development and Professor of Law.

Dean Dempsey, a leading expert in Criminal Law and Feminist Legal Theory, brings to the classroom a passion for the law and social justice. Her advocacy work and scholarship on issues of violence against women has led her to testify before a United States Senate Subcommittee and to serve as consultant to both the Crown Prosecution Service of England and Wales and the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Trafficking. Here at Villanova, Dean Dempsey inspires the next generation of lawyers, teaching courses in Criminal Law (1L), Evidence (2L/3L) and Feminist Legal Theory (2L/3L).

Students in Villanova’s criminal law practice also have the opportunity to study with leading experts such as Steve Chanenson, Chair of the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing; Anne Poulin, one of Pennsylvania’s leading experts on evidence and criminal procedure; and Seth Williams, the City of Philadelphia’s District Attorney.
