Joseph Ronan is the managing principal of the law firm Ronan Law Group, PLLC, and a member of the Pennsylvania, New York, District of Columbia and Vermont bars. In his current firm, Joseph focuses on income tax issues, executive and equity compensation matters, retirement planning, qualified and nonqualified deferred compensation plans and related matters. Prior to starting his own firm, Joseph worked in the tax and benefits areas at Morgan Lewis, Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) and Blank Rome. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America (for Taxation) and SuperLawyers.
Joseph earned his B.A. degree in philosophy (with honors) from Haverford College, and his J.D. and LL.M. from New York University School of Law. While in Villanova University School of Law, he served as the Research Editor of the NYU Review of Law and Social Change.
Joseph has been chair of the Tax Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association, as well as chair of a committee of the ABA Tax Section. He has served as board chair at Friends Select School, president of the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and as a board member with Philabundance. He has also received alumni awards from Friends Select and Haverford.
Joseph has been a frequent speaker for the Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Association and at ABA events, and has written several published articles on tax and employee benefits matters. In addition to teaching Tax II, Joseph teaches courses on Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation in the Villanova LL.M. program.
