Institutional Long Range Development Plan
Representatives from Villanova University presented the University’s updated Institutional Long Range Development Plan on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7:00 PM at the Radnor Township Building.
Regularly, or as part of the Land Development approval process, the University is required to submit an Institutional Long Range Development Plan to Radnor Township. This plan includes a variety of projects the University may consider pursing in the near term or as part of long-range forecasting.
This plan serves as a strategic outline for future development and will provide a strong overview of the University’s current priorities. Not every project will come to fruition, timelines could adjust, and new projects may come under consideration based upon campus needs and/or donor interest.

Stadium Lights Upgrade
Villanova University is pleased to share that is has received approval from the Zoning Hearing Board of Radnor Township regarding the lights at Villanova Stadium.
Per the approval, Villanova will replace the current lights with modern, efficient LED lights provided by Musco Sports Lighting. The “Total Light Control for LED” technology from Musco has the ability to expertly target and control light directly onto the field, while virtually eliminating glare and spill for nearby homes and preserving the night sky.
The University believes this change will be a benefit to both on-campus and off-campus communities. It will better support Villanova students and the great community events hosted on campus, while also minimizing the impact on adjacent neighborhoods.
Removal of the existing stadium lights is set to begin in the next two weeks, and the installation of the new lights is anticipated to be complete by early fall.
New Sidewalks Continue to Improve Pedestrian Experience Around Campus Exterior:
Work will soon begin on improvements to the sidewalk along the south side of Lancaster Avenue, from Ithan Avenue west toward Barley Cone Lane.
Similar to the ongoing project on the north side of Lancaster Avenue to Black Friar Road, the scope of work will include removing the existing sidewalk, installing a wider sidewalk set back from the curb, replacing the fencing and adding gothic-style light fixtures.
This project is a continuation of the efforts made by the University over the past few years to improve pedestrian safety along Lancaster and Ithan Avenues. When this phase is complete (expected by early Fall), Villanova will have replaced more than 1.6 miles of sidewalk on its property along these roads.
This work has been financed in part by grants from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Commonwealth Financing Authority.
