Mechatronics Systems Laboratory

Part of the Center for Nonlinear Dynamics and Controls (CENDAC)

Mechatronics Systems Laboratory

Director: Garrett Clayton, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Focus: Design and control of mechatronics systems with a specific focus on how image-based controls can be used. The systems studied in this lab range from the very small (scanning probe microscopes) to more typically sized mechatronic systems (mobile robots).

Research Highlights:

  • Image-based modeling, control and calibration for high speed scanning probe microscopy
  • Unmanned vehicle modeling and control using vision-based information
  • Piezoelectric actuator vibration suppression
  • Microsoft Kinect as a mobile robotics sensor
