Heterogeneous Autonomous Vehicles Laboratory (HAVLab)


Villanova University's Heterogeneous Autonomous Vehicle Laboratory (HAVLab) is a state-of-the-art facility for the development and testing of autonomous vehicles—ground, marine and air—and their cooperative missions. The main focus of HAVLab research is the development of automatic control, image processing, and data fusion techniques that will allow each drone to operate independently and collaboratively with drones of the same or different nature.

Many autonomous vehicles today rely on external positioning systems and centralized computers to process data and relay commands. The primary goal of the HAVLab is to develop vehicles that can function independently from these external sources and rely on onboard sensors and processing to make decisions.

HAVLab is part of the Center for Nonlinear Dynamics and Control (CENDAC), directed by Dr. Hashem Ashrafiuon.
