NovaCell Researchers

Biochemical Engineering

DR. NOELLE COMOLLI

DR. NOELLE COMOLLI has expertise in polymeric biomaterials for tissue engineering and targeted drug delivery for cancer therapies.

DR. JACOB ELMER

DR. JACOB ELMER works on genetic engineering, especially creating non-viral vectors for gene therapy and in protein engineering/ purification.

DR. ZUYI (JACKY) HUANG

DR. ZUYI (JACKY) HUANG uses his systems biology background to develop mathematical models of biological systems, including pathways for pancreatic cancer.

DR. WILLIAM KELLY

NovaCell Director DR. WILLIAM KELLY has expertise in scale up and bioprocessing of cell culture products, and has extensive experience working with pharmaceutical companies to improve manufacturing processes and practices.

Mechanical Engineering

Dr. Jens Karlsson

An expert on cell cryopreservation, DR. JENS KARLSSON's research on cryoinjury biophysics makes possible accelerated design and optimization of customized cryopreservation processes for cell therapy products and other applications.

Biochemistry

DR. AIMEE EGGLER

DR. AIMEE EGGLER has expertise in the area of cellular response to reactive oxygen species and electrophiles, particularly the Nrf2/antioxidant response element pathway, which controls expression of a battery of antioxidant, detoxification and anti-inflammatory proteins. The Nrf2 pathway is “hijacked” and constitutively upregulated in many cancer types.

DR. ANIL BAMEZAI

DR. ANIL BAMEZAI is a cellular and molecular immunologist with expertise in CD4+ T lymphocyte biology. His areas of research interest include targeting Ly-6A protein, a potential immune checkpoint inhibitor, as anti-cancer therapy, and the role of lipid rafts and membrane order in T cell signaling.
