Qianhong Wu is the director and founder of the Villanova Cellular Biomechanics and Sport Science Laboratory. He is currently an associate professor in the mechanical engineering department at Villanova University.

He received his bachelor of engineering in mechanical engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), P.R. China in 1993. He received his Master of Science in electrical engineering from the Institute of Electrical Engineering, The Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1999. He then received his Master of Engineering in Mechanical and Biomedical engineering in 2004 and his Ph. D in 2005 from The City College and Graduate Center of The City University of New York. His thesis was Lift generation in soft porous media; from red cells to skiing to a new concept for a train track. He continued to pursue the interests outlined in his thesis by founding CBMSS where he does research on cellular biomechanics, porous media flow, and fluid dynamics; he has published extensively on these topics.
