Cellular Biomechanics and Sports Science

The Villanova Cellular Biomechanics and Sports Science Laboratory (CBMSS) is focused on experimental, theoretical, and numerical studies of multi-scale transport phenomena: from cellular biomechanics, to lift mechanics of skiing or snowboarding, to fluid dynamics especially porous media flow. Our current research area:

  • The pivotal role of the endothelial glycocalyx in microcirculation
  • Brain Biomechanics
  • Cardiovascular Engineering
  • Soft/super lubrication
  • Skiing mechanics
  • Lift generation in highly compressible porous media
