Villanova University is recognized for its commitment to women in engineering. Since 2009, the College has appeared at the top of many national engineering school rankings for percentage of undergraduate female enrollment and female tenure-track/tenured faculty. In the past decade, we have consistently exceeded the national average in both categories, and our graduate female enrollment has as well.
A number of initiatives have helped propel the College forward in this regard, including,
- Bringing talented women faculty on board so female students can “see themselves” here
- Outreach programs for girls in 4th-12th grade to generate interest in engineering
- Focusing on teaching methods that address a variety of learning styles
