Elizabeth T. Mazzeo ’81 VSB Awarded the Rev. Joseph C. Bartley, OSA Alumni Medallion

Villanova, Pa., September 30, 2016 - The Villanova School of Business (VSB) has honored Elizabeth T. Mazzeo’81 VSB, P ’13, ’16 as the 2016 recipient of The Rev. Joseph C. Bartley, OSA Alumni Medallion. The Bartley Medallion is awarded annually to recognize alumni who have distinguished themselves in their careers while also demonstrating extraordinary service to their communities and to VSB. This award is the highest distinction the school can bestow to an alumnus/a.

Mazzeo’s professional career has been defined by her drive for excellence. As the Chief Operating Officer of Bloomberg L.P., she is responsible for overseeing all of the company’s global support teams, including facilities and real estate, human resources, technical operations, supply chain, and philanthropy and engagement.

“I am deeply honored to receive the 2016 Bartley Alumni Medallion and join the remarkable group of its past recipients,” said Mazzeo. “As a proud alumna of the Villanova School of Business, I have carried the mission and values of the University throughout my professional career to help guide my business practices.”

Previously, Mazzeo was head of Bloomberg’s Global Data, Data Acquisitions and Data Solutions businesses, which provide the fastest, most comprehensive and highest-quality financial data to clients globally; the Bloomberg Valuation Service, which offers independent, transparent and defensible valuations across a broad spectrum of asset classes and financial instruments; and industry verticals Bloomberg Law, Bloomberg Government, Bloomberg BNA and Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

At Bloomberg since 1986, Mazzeo was instrumental in developing the company’s trading system platform. She helped build Bloomberg's contributed pricing product, and headed the global data department where she revolutionized the methods and technology Bloomberg uses for processing data. From her first days at Bloomberg, Mazzeo has been committed to developing solutions in order to meet market demands and consumer needs as well as finding opportunities to continue to create value.

Mazzeo has served on the boards of many corporate, civic and charitable organizations, and has shown a longtime commitment to Villanova University where she serves on the Board of Trustees. Notably, Mazzeo is on the Board of National Center for Women & Information Technology, a non-profit working to increase women’s participation in computing and technology. She also serves on the Board of Trustees Camden Catholic High School.

The Bartley Alumni Medallion was presented to Mazzeo in the company of VSB’s most supportive leaders at the Villanova Business Leaders Forum, which took place on September 29, 2016. This year’s Forum - Cyber Risk: Protecting You and Your Business - examined the issues associated with cyber security and provided insights and recommendations on how to manage and mitigate ricks.
