VILLANOVA, Pa., October 9, 2015 - The Villanova School of Business (VSB) named Kevin M. Curley ’80 VSB as the 2015 recipient of The Rev. Joseph C. Bartley, OSA Alumni Medallion. The Bartley Medallion is awarded annually to recognize alumni who have distinguished themselves in their careers while also demonstrating extraordinary service to their communities and to VSB. This award, the winner of which is selected by a committee of faculty and staff, is the highest distinction the school can bestow to an alumnus/a.
Curley’s professional career is one that has been defined by achievement and success. He currently serves as the CEO of Dallas-based Curley Financial Group, LLC, (CFG) a holding company that operates a managing general insurance agency, a claims management firm, oversees a family office and manages an insurance company. Prior to forming CFG, he founded the Curley Insurance Group, Inc. in 1988 and built it into one of the largest insurance brokers in the United States with 75 employees and 1,500 agents before it was sold in 2007.
In addition to his commitment to business, Curley has displayed an unwavering dedication to giving back to the Dallas community by serving on the boards of many corporate, civic, and charitable organizations including the Dallas Opera, Dallas Center for the Performing Arts, Catholic Foundation and the Dallas Housing Crisis Center. He also hosts an annual charity golf tournament for the grammar school he attended in Bronx, New York.
Curley’s strong ties to Ireland have fueled his service of various Irish charities, including the Cranmore Integrated School in Belfast, the Irish Autism Action in Mullingar, the Irish Arts Center in New York City, and the American Ireland Fund, where he serves as a board member. Curley also served as the Chairman of the Downtown Dallas St. Patrick’s Parade for many years. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Shamrock Shootout Golf Invitational, which has generated over $1 million for charities in Texas, Ireland and Northern Ireland as it enters its 22nd year.
Curley has shown this same dedication to all things Villanova for many years. He restarted the Houston Alumni chapter, was the head of the Dallas Alumni chapter, and served as the President of the Villanova University Alumni Association. Curley currently serves on Villanova School of Business Dean’s Advisory Council, the Villanova Presidents Leadership Council, and is Chairman of the Villanova School of Business Campaign Committee.
The Bartley Alumni Medallion was presented to Curley in the company of VSB’s most supportive leaders at the Villanova Business Leaders Forum, which took place on October 8, 2015. This year’s Forum—Engaging Millennials—highlighted the challenges, opportunities and aspirations of the millennial generation.
Curley currently resides in Dallas, Texas, and Juno Beach, Fla., and is the proud father of Kevin II, ‘09 VSB, a financial advisor with UBS Securities in Dallas; Kathleen, an account executive with Wells Fargo in New York City; and Conor, an account executive with Construction Insurance Services, Inc. in Dallas.
