VILLANOVA, PA, August 18, 2010 — The Villanova School of Business (VSB) appointed Kevin D. Clark, Ph.D., associate professor of strategic management, to the position of senior associate dean. In this role, Clark will collaborate with the faculty and the VSB leadership team, to drive the academic and intellectual agenda for the school – including research, teaching, and curricular innovation – ensuring VSB achieves even higher levels of academic excellence and recognition.
Professor Clark will benefit greatly from the momentum created by his predecessor, Ronald Paul Hill, Ph.D., who returns to the faculty as the Naclerio Endowed Chair of Marketing and Public Policy.
“Given his longstanding record of accomplishment in teaching, scholarship, and service, Professor Clark is a great choice for this appointment,” said James M. Danko, The Helen and William O’Toole Dean of The Villanova School of Business. “As Kevin takes on this new leadership role, I look forward to working with him to continue strengthening our commitment to innovation and excellence in business education.”
Clark has been a member of VSB’s faculty since 2001 and he has served as the Chair of the Department of Management and Operations since 2007. In addition, he is an award-winning teacher whose courses cover a range of topics including strategic management, leadership, and team dynamics.
Professor Clark will lead the intellectual agenda for VSB, oversee all academic programs, and assure educational excellence at VSB.
Clark will also implement strategies that enhance faculty research quality, teaching effectiveness, and curricular innovation. “I am dedicated to continual improvement in the educational mission of VSB,” he says. “While we have experienced extraordinary growth over the past several years, our challenge will be to maintain our focus on quality and innovation in the programs we deliver so that we continue to excel in preparing our talented students to meet the complex needs of global organizations. Given the exceptional quality and commitment of our faculty and staff, I am quite eager to take on this new role.”
Kevin Clark received his Ph.D. in strategic management from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park. Clark's research interests include strategic leadership and decision-making, social capital in executive teams, and the role of the executive team in organizational innovation and creativity. He has published a number of highly cited articles in top refereed journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Organizational Dynamics, and CAIS. Before joining academe, Professor Clark was employed in the steel and automotive industries.
