Center Faculty Director and Rammrath Chair in International Business Jonathan Doh co-authored an article that appeared in the Financial Times, July 30. In the article, entitled “Social innovation must be in core curriculum,” Doh and his co-author, Guy Pfefferman, chief executive of the Global Business School Network and previous chief economist for the International Finance Corporation, argue that international social ventures should leverage – and be integrated with – core business activities and business school topics. They suggest that tackling global challenges requires scale, business acumen, and access to markets, all things large businesses can provide. They therefore suggest that these social innovations should be inextricably linked to core business school topics such as finance, accounting, and marketing.
