Making Strides in Quantifying and Understanding Soccer

Interested in Data Analytics usage in sports? Join us on 1/25 to hear from expert, Sarah Rudd - one of the pioneers in the field of football analytics, to understand the intersection of Analytics technology and how it applies to strategy used by the big football clubs, like Arsenal, Barcelona and Liverpool.

Soccer has a rich history of people using data in an attempt to gain a better understanding of what happened in a game. However, due to its fluid nature, the sport is often assumed to be difficult to quantify and analyze. Join Sarah in a talk which will highlight some of the progress that has been made in soccer analytics in recent years, including some of the advances being made thanks to rich, full-tracking datasets.

StatDNA was bought by Arsenal in 2014, its research now incorporated wholesale into the club’s decision making. The insights produced by StatDNA are widely used across Arsenal’s football operations – in scouting and talent identification, in game preparation, in post-match analysis and in gaining tactical insights.
