Course Requirements
All courses are to be Writing Enriched or Writing Intensive. In certain cases, the program director may permit students to substitute other courses for those required or permit other exceptions to the guidelines. A maximum of five courses may be taken from any one department.

Practicum Courses
(One course must be taken from this category.)
ENG 2030 - Tutoring Writers - Theory and Practice ENG 2060 - Desktop Publishing (students work for campus organization or off campus non-profit) COM 2993 or COM 2996 - Communication Internship (in a related area in the for-profit or non-profit sector. Only English and Communication majors and minors may take the internship courses.) PJ 4650 - Service Learning Practicum (When the practicum involves a good deal of writing) Non-Credit bearing internships are also possible if they involve a substantial amount of writing. The internship must be approved by the Director of the Writing and Rhetoric Program. |
Writing Enriched or Writing Intensive upper level literature courses
(Two courses must be taken from this category.)
Selected from English Department offerings which include a rhetorical approach (broadly defined). All writing enriched or writing intensive literature courses above 2100 will satisfy this requirement. |
