Through the generosity of many donors to Villanova who recognize the importance of professional development opportunities for undergraduate students, we in the Office for Undergraduate Students (OUS) has the ability to help fund student experiences that emphasize professional and career exploration and growth.
If you require financial support for expenses related to a professional development conference or event, or if you have secured an internship and require financial support to pursue it, then please complete our application form for financial support. It will be reviewed by staff in the Office for Undergraduate Students.
Please note the following:
- Financial need status is weighted heavily when evaluating applications. OUS wants to ensure that students who present the greatest need receive the support they otherwise would not receive. All applications are vetted confidentially with the Office of Financial Assistance to verify aid eligibility and need.
- Applications for financial support for professional development opportunities outside of internships are reviewed on a rolling basis, and we kindly ask that you provide at least two weeks of lead time. To request funding for internships, please apply by the following dates:
Fall 2019 Semester: Deadline is August 24, 2019.
Spring 2020 Semester: Deadline is January 6, 2020
Summer 2020: Deadline is May 1, 2020.
- Funding is limited, and all student requests might not be honored. We aim to meet the needs of all students, but sometimes, we cannot due to lack of funds or late requests. We strive to ensure that as many students as possible benefit from the financial support that is available. Preference will be given to students who haven’t received financial support through OUS in the past, but all requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The amount of funding awarded to a student shall not exceed $2,500 during the entirety of their Villanova undergraduate education.
- In addition, if a student seeks funding from another area within the University, and if that funding is granted, then this will affect the amount of the OUS award.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Kate Szumanski in the Office for Undergraduate Students.
