Protestant Political Theology, Then and Now

A discussion of the resources of twentieth-century Protestant thought for addressing politics – and how those resources must be challenged, inflected, or enhanced to address racial and gender justice today.


Prof. Rachel Baard, Assistant Professor in the Augustine and Culture Seminar Program at Villanova University. She is the author of Sexism and Sin-Talk: A Critical-Constructive Rhetoric (Westminster John Knox, 2019) and the forthcoming edited volume, Paul Tillich’s Political Theology.

Prof. David True, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Wilson College. He co-edits the journal Political Theology and is editor of the forthcoming book Prophecy in a Secular Age (Cascade). He has published on Martin Luther King, Reinhold Niebuhr, Stanley Hauerwas, and just war, among other topics.
