The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures encourages students to experience languages and cultures in many different ways. The Department’s Language Media Center provides students with a range of tools to creatively engage in the study of French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish, taught at the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures .
The LMC is a site for collaboration, interaction and exchange of ideas, a place for working on multimedia projects using available resources, including a code-free DVD player, interactive smartboard, MAC and DELL computers equipped with specialized software for high quality video and audio editing, among other potential uses.
Students may work on projects, compositions, listen to textbook lessons and record their own voice. In addition, students may also work on visual projects related to language learning, such as power point, or prezi presentations, animoto, or other multimedia projects.
The LMC is located at Mendel G93, and is divided into two main sections: the “project hangout” and the viewing room.
Comprised of a large table for meetings, two state of the art computers, a Dell and a MAC, an interactive smartboard, is a collaborative space for group work and instruction. It also serves as a place for tutoring students with place for graduate assistants who are tutors. View a virtual tour of the LMC (requires Quicktime) –
