Military and Veterans

You already do political science, now study it ! Earn a Master of Political Science from Villanova University.

You traveled the world and you served in places where you experienced what happens when order descends into conflict or when economies are unable to create opportunities. These are the very same questions that political scientists study here at Villanova.

Villanova has been the home for over 50 years to the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Program. The program has produced over 22 Navy Admirals and Marine Corps Generals many of whom have been political science majors. And many of the program’s instructors, active duty officers and veterans have enrolled in our M.A. program.

All these students have been attracted to our program for the following reasons:

  • They were able to select from a wide range of courses in political sciences. The flexible requirements have allowed them to individualize their course of study.

  • They were attracted by our national and international security related courses.

Villanova has a large number of campus activities that bring in guest speakers  on security or area studies related issues.  We periodically host the General-in-Resident program that has invited people like General Zinni or Admiral William Fallon. Villanova has Centers for the Study of Conflict and Violence, Arab and Islamic, Russian, and Asian Studies.

If you have any further questions about how our program might help you advance your personal or professional goals, please contact us. We are happy to provide answers, arrange class visits or have you talk to current students.

Leo Spaeder
After graduating from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics, I was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps and deployed twice.  After returning from Afghanistan, I was transferred to a Marine Corps Reserve unit in New Jersey.

The opportunity to study at Villanova has not only made me more competitive for promotion but also has provided insight on the processes that lead to the deployment of the U.S. military throughout the world.  The faculty and fellow students here at Villanova have been nothing but supportive and their diverse opinions have expanded my outlook on a variety of issues.  It has been a rewarding experience that undoubtedly has made me a better Marine Officer.
