02.20.2014 – The Gender and Women’s Studies Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Villanova University will be presenting the 25th Annual Elizabeth Cady Stanton Research Conference Friday, April 4 at 1 pm in the Connelly Cinema. This year, Gender and Women’s Studies is joining forces with the Greater Philadelphia Women’s Studies Consortium, founded in 1993 to provide a forum for the Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Programs of the area’s universities and colleges. The conference will be expanded to students at area schools such as the University of Delaware, Haverford College, Temple University, and others.
The University will welcome CJ Pascoe, a professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Oregon, as the keynote speaker for the conference. Professor Pascoe will be presenting “Bullied: Youth, Gender and Homophobia." She is the author of the book Dude You’re a Fag: Masculinity in High School, which won the America Educational Research Association’s 2007 Book of the Year Award. Her research, focusing on gender, youth, homophobia, sexuality and new media, has also been featured in the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, American Sexuality Magazine and Inside Higher Ed.
