Finding an Internship

Handshake - Villanova's Career Management System

The HRD Office utilizes Handshake, through Villanova's Career Services Center, to communicate job and internship opportunities with our HRD students. We refer employers to post their HR openings on Handshake so that our students have access to them as soon as they are posted.

As a Villanova student or alumni, you already have access to Handshake.

Obtaining an Internship

Students must contact their advisors PRIOR to committing to an internship, so that the internship can be approved by the advisor. This is to ensure that the details of the internship meet the Graduate HRD program requirements.

Students must register for the 3-credit course: HRD 8010 Internship in Human Resource Development in order to receive credit for the internship.

During the Internship

Weekly Activity Logs

Students must fill out the Weekly Activity Log during each week of the internship to keep track of hours and activities. All weekly logs must be submitted to the academic advisor at the conclusion of the internship. The required Employer Evaluation Forms must also be submitted to your academic advisor.

You must have a minimum of 120 documented hours to receive credit for the internship.

Employer Evaluation Forms

The internship supervisor must complete an Employer Evaluation Form twice during the internship, as follows:

  1. After 30 days
  2. Conclusion of internship (final evaluation)

All Employer Evaluation Forms must be sent to the academic advisor via email, unless otherwise instructed by the advisor.
