To be considered for the Alexander and Johannes Scholarship Fund, students must be newly admitted to a graduate degree program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and must not be awarded any graduate assistantships or tuition scholarships in other departments or offices at Villanova University. Preference will be given to students who are eligible for federal financial aid.
The Alexander and Johannes Scholarship Fund for Graduate Studies
The Alexander and Johannes Scholarship Fund for Graduate Studies was established by a genererous endowed gift to support graduate students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. For the 2021-2022 academic year, the fund will provide a limited number of $5,000 scholarships to be applied as tuition assistance to a full-time graduate program. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit and demonstrated financial need.
Each scholarship will be awarded for one academic year with preference for renewing the award to the same recipient(s) in subsequent years, providing the recipient(s) continues to meet the conditions of eligibility, is in good academic standing, is in good disciplinary standing, and funds are available. Students will be required to submit a letter of thanks to the donor in each year of funding.
For the 2021-2022 academic year, the total amount of the scholarship is $5,000, and will be disbursed in two $2,500 increments - one in the fall semester and one in the spring semester. Students must be enrolled in nine credits of coursework for each semester. Students who enroll in fewer than nine credits, WX or otherwise reduce their course-load below the nine-credit threshold forfeit eligibility for grant support.
