About Us

The goal of the Creative Writing Program is to mentor and support students in their creative endeavors as writers. Courses within the minor are taught by respected novelists, poets, playwrights, and screenwriters. Courses are designed to support students in the difficult artistic process of exploring their own creative potential and focusing that potential to create quality work. These classes facilitate students' mastery of essential skills in the craft of writing, while providing them with insightful and articulate critical responses to their work.

Beyond the Villanova faculty, students have opportunities to meet critically acclaimed authors, poets, playwrights, and screenwriters through on-campus readings and workshops. The program seeks to create a community of authors who support each other in their work as artists, while fostering a growing interdisciplinary artistic community on campus that will enrich the educational experience of Villanova students across disciplines.
