About VCAN

The Villanova Communication Alumni Network (VCAN) connects undergraduate and graduate alumni working in all areas of communication—advertising, radio, TV, film, graphic arts, journalism, marketing, media, academia, public relations and more. Through networking and professional development events, as well as opportunities to mentor current Villanova students, VCAN invites alumni, faculty and others in the Villanova community to engage in innovative programming relevant to the communications profession.

There are active VCAN groups in New York and Philadelphia, which host networking events, professional development events and more.

VCAN Newsletter

Students have the opportunity to actively enage with VCAN—allowing them to connect with practictioners, learn soft-skills of the industry and gain hands-on experience through the VCAN Newsletter. The VCAN newsletter is a student-written and produced publication featuring updates on VCAN and the department. Read the summer 2018 edition.

Today, nearly every communications professional—at any level and across all industries—must be prepared to communicate about crises impacting the organizations and individuals they represent by navigating tried communication methods in the ever-evolving tech platforms. For its debut professional development event on campus, the leadership of the Villanova Communication Alumni Network (VCAN) will present a keynote and panel discussion on this critically important topic. The panel will be moderated by Bill Cowen, EdD, crisis communications expert; Assistant Professor, Communication, Villanova University and founder of VCAN.
