Richelle Hurley ’17 CLAS, ’18 MA Wins National Award for Analysis of Beyoncé’s 2016 Super Bowl Statement

Beyoncé’s politically charged performance at halftime of the Super Bowl on February 7, 2016, elicited mixed reactions, but for Villanova University student Richelle Hurley ’17 CLAS, ’18 MA, the performance was a clear effort to change the social construction of both sports and race.

Disability Studies Course Helps CLAS Students Break Barriers, Build Bridges

In Introduction to Disability Studies, every student in the class partners with a student in LEVEL, a Villanova group that serves the needs of students with disabilities. This partnership not only applies class theories, but also fosters friendships between Introduction to Disability Studies students and LEVEL peers.

Minority Association for Pre-Health Students

The Villanova University's Minority Association for Pre-Health Students (MAPS) is an organization committed to encouraging, inspiring and supporting minority pre-health professional students at Villanova University. It is newly chartered on Villanova's campus, and is affiliated with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine's Student National Medical Association (SNMA). MAPS exposes its members to service opportunities related to healthcare as well as provides information to its general body regarding application processes, test preparation and health professional school readiness through implementing its own programs along with attending conferences hosted by health professional organizations.
