Last Seen: Voices from Slavery's Lost Families

The Last Seen Project, a collaboration between Villanova History researchers and Mother Bethel AME church, is uncovering thousands of newspaper ads placed by emancipated slaves looking for loved ones after the Civil War. Last month, the Department of Theatre and Department of History presented a dramatic reading of the ads during “Last Seen: Voices from Slavery’s Lost Families, followed by a panel discussion.

Students, faculty and staff throughout the college are participating in research and academic initiatives relevant to diversity and inclusion.
