Young Alumni Challenge

Thank you for being a part of the Young Alumni Challenge during the past two years. We are thrilled to announce the final results!

Together we:

  • Raised more than $4.42 million in gifts and pledges
  • Raised an additional $508,200 in support for the University from the Riley family

In total, 6,167 donors helped make these achievements possible.

If you graduated from Villanova within the last 15 years, you have shared time on campus with at least one of the Riley sisters.

Like many Villanovans, Brigid '02, Shannon '04, Kerry-Lynn '07 and Courtney '11 volunteered for Special Olympics and participated in service trips. They joined sororities and were involved in Campus Ministry. They also are part of a family tradition: The sisters’ grandfather, James Riley '46, set the precedent when he attended Villanova with his brothers and sisters.

With the launch of For the Greater Great®: The Villanova Campaign to Ignite Change, the sisters decided to help set the course for the next generation of Wildcats – perhaps their own future children – by making generous gifts to Villanova through the Riley Family Foundation to fuel the Young Alumni Challenge in fiscal years 2015 and 2016. The sisters want to work together with you – their fellow young alumni – to make a real impact on Villanova’s future.

In fiscal year 2015 (June 1, 2014-May 31, 2015), 5,935 graduates from the Classes of 2000-2014 made a gift to reach our goal of 26% young alumni participation, securing an additional $250,000 in support from the Riley family.

In fiscal year 2016 (June 1, 2015-May 31, 2016) the Challenge had a new twist: the Riley family matched each gift (up to $100) by a young alumnus or alumna from the Classes of 2001-2015 who also made a gift in FY15. More than 65% renewed their support, earning an extra $258,200 in matching gifts for Villanova.
