I am a legacy Villanova alumna. My father graduated from Villanova and my grandfather received his master’s degree from Villanova. Their involvement and philanthropy paved the way for me, and for the great experience I had at Villanova. The University is such a big part of our family and I am proud to join my father and grandfather in giving back to our alma mater.
I studied accounting at the Villanova School of Business, which led me to a job at KPMG in Philadelphia. I credit the success I’ve had over the past four years at KPMG to the exceptional education I received at Villanova. I learned so much both inside the classroom from my professors as well as outside the classroom from my peers. Villanova truly shaped the person I am today in professional and personal ways.
During my time on campus, I was involved with several clubs and activities including the Day of Service, Ambassadors, Women in Business Society and Habitat for Humanity. These clubs provided personal fulfillment and extracurricular learning opportunities. Seeing the Day of Service grow over my four years into what it has become today was truly amazing and a testament to the Augustinian values in which Villanova was rooted. During my time as an Ambassador, I always enjoyed chatting with prospective students and families before their campus tours. I easily related to these students, recalling my own nerves and excitement at the possibility of one day calling Villanova my home.
Since leaving campus, I’ve tried to stay connected with Villanova in different ways such as attending Homecoming, participating in on-campus recruiting events through KPMG and various other alumni events throughout the Philadelphia area. Needless to say, watching the men’s basketball team on the road to the national championship was the highlight of my alumni experience. I cheered with the Villanova community at the Sweet 16 and Final Four. Watching everyone come together to support the team is one of the things I love and find most unique about Villanovans. I reconnected with people I knew during my time at school and met many others with graduation years spanning five to 50 years before mine! The memories I made those two weekends will undoubtedly last a lifetime.
I had a wonderful experience while I was a student at Villanova and continue to have meaningful experiences as a proud alumna. So, for me, giving back is part of my heritage, my own legacy, and my commitment to pave the way for future generations.
