Villanova parents John and Susan Riley are igniting change through their support of the University. The current CFO of PepsiCo North American Nutrition, John is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School. Susan is a graduate of the University of California and a dedicated mother, fundraiser and community education volunteer.
The nurturing environment and the multitude of opportunities Villanova offered their daughter Katherine ’19 VSB, inspired John and Susan to support the University so other young adults could have the same advantages to learn and grow. At Villanova, Katherine has been involved in a wide range of student activities and professional groups including the Leadership Learning Community and Chi Omega Sorority, Women in Business and the Business in Leadership Society. Taking advantage of opportunities to give back to others through groups like Nova Dance, Special Olympics, Ruibal Tutoring and Day of Service are also important. The Rileys noted, “The special part about all of these activities is how they develop the teamwork and leadership skills students will need to succeed in life.”
The Riley’s belief in educational access mirrors one of the University’s major priorities—increasing financial aid—and was the catalyst for their support of Mission & Ministry and the Center for Access, Success and Achievement (CASA). “The transformational experience that Katherine has had as a Villanova student, should be available to qualified students regardless of the cost.” Susan Riley adds, “It’s important to us that Villanova students can take advantage of these varied opportunities and activities to help them ignite change in the world.”
