Join the Greater DC Club this season for softball. Whether you're a former varsity player or brand new to the game and looking to meet other alums this team is for you.
Each summer, members of the Greater Washington DC Villanova Alumni Club represent Villanova in the Capital Alumni Network (CAN) softball tournament. CAN is a non-profit organization in Washington DC that brings together alumni from different universities to network, volunteer and make new friends at events throughout the year.
In 2016, the Villanova alumni team brought home the championship for the first time—another highlight in a year of Villanova sports achievements! Despite being the underdogs going into the final game, the team was determined. Bruce Canty ’77, Allison Behette ’13, Chris Lapworth ’99, Maggie Scales ’09, David Chang ’06, James Kennery ’12, Mike Noonan ’98, Mark Morgan ’06 and Mark Dickas ’06 and Mike Meyer ‘09 helped to clinch the exciting victory!
This past summer, another champion was crowned, but the Villanova team had fun competing—as they always do.
The Nova DC Alumni softball squad is coached by Kevin O’Brien ’09 and Brian Zirkel ’12 who assumed the head coaching duties from Rusty O’Brien ‘11 and Rod Tolentino ‘03. If you’d like to learn more or get involved, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
