Terry Delaney '83 - President

Elected to the Board - 2013

Terry graduated from Villanova University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. While at VU, he was a member of the track & cross country teams. Terry's entrance into the business world was gained by campus interviews at Villanova's Career Development Center.

Terry worked at MetLife in their group insurance division providing mid-sized and large businesses with employee benefits plans including health, disability, and life insurance. Terry's main area of expertise was in health plans, and specifically, in self-funded health plans. He advised clients and consultants in the ever changing world of health insurance. He left in 1991 as Regional Director overseeing business development and account management operations in the Delaware Valley.

Terry joined an employee benefits consulting firm called RSI, as partner in 1991. RSI was a regional firm based in Mt. Laurel, NJ catering to small and mid-sized businesses headquartered in the Mid-Atlantic States. RSI merged with the Gallagher Benefits Services division of Arthur J. Gallagher in 2008. AJG is the 4thlargest insurance brokerage firm in the world and is publically traded.

Terry's role during his time at RSI and Gallagher included business development and account management. He provided sound and practical advice to existing and prospective clients related to their employee benefits plans.

Terry became highly regarded for his ability to explain the complex world of health insurance to Owners, CEOs, CFOs, and HR Directors, as well as to staff. His talent was in showing practical & creative cost cutting solutions, while maintaining a sense of value in the health plans themselves. These solutions included the design of plans; corporate wellness programs; and financing alternatives. Terry was influential, too, in helping his clients navigate through the changing legislative landscape, and most notably, in understating what has become known as "Obamacare" and its impact on businesses. His enduring quality was his ability to explain complex topics in ways that all could understand well enough to make informed decisions.

Terry retired in June 2012 to experience new adventures with his wife and three children. He has thoroughly enjoyed his time by training for marathons & doing other fitness activities, traveling and reading.
