The Master of Business Taxation with Data Analytics (MBT) is a full-time, 12-month program for those seeking a career as a tax professional within the accounting industry. The MBT degree equips students with the multi-dimensional skills needed to navigate the rapid changes in data and technology within the tax profession and gain a competitive advantage in today’s job market.
The program integrates advanced coursework in tax and accounting with quantitative applications in modelling, data, analytics and technology. The program curriculum covers in-depth topics such as the impact of taxation on business operations and planning, corporate and partnership taxation, mergers and acquisitions, international taxation, state and local taxation, and tax research, policy and ethics.
Starting in the fall, the program includes a tax season internship and additional experiential learning opportunities for students to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. When pooled with the appropriate undergraduate course work, the 30-credit MBT degree will provide the hours necessary to earn a CPA license. In addition, the MBT program includes a structured approach to prepare for the CPA exam along with discounted access to CPA Exam Review programs. MBT students receive support in securing a tax-season work opportunity to supplement their course of study.
Graduate Mentoring Program
Students are encouraged to participate in a one-year mentoring program with alumni and corporate partners. This program is facilitated by the mentoring platform Chronus, which provides mentoring recommendations based on career interests and backgrounds with MatchIQ technology. During this program, students will engage in events that facilitate relationship building with their alumni mentor.
As MBT students have unique motivations for earning their advanced degree, they also have access to dedicated career services staff who can help them navigate and benefit from a variety of resources based on their individual professional goals.
The Master of Accounting with Data Analytics Fellows Program is an assistantship that allows students to pursue their degree on a full-time basis while obtaining paid research experience with faculty members. Fellows gain valuable hands-on experience working with our world-class faculty as they engage in innovative research with real-world applications. Fellows receive a living stipend and 50% tuition discount.
