On July 16, VSB announced an expansion of its Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (VSB ODEI) as well as a continuation and enhancement of our diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives building upon the foundational work of the past 24 months.

As the US workforce becomes more diverse and as business becomes more global, it is critical for business schools to create a learning environment that reflects this paradigm. If business schools are to be a positive role model for the business world, then we need to mirror this dynamic. Supporting DEI as a key pillar within the overall strategic plan of the University: Rooted. Restless, VSB has also identified it as an integral part of our own strategy. Like the University, we also want to cultivate a deeper understanding of differences in race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status or ability at VSB. We are committed to fostering a greater sense of belonging among our community as a whole and, while we have made progress, we recognize that our efforts have not been enough. We have heard the voices of our community, and we are committed to doing better. We also want to ensure that we are fulfilling our Augustinian mission in being inclusive to all members. Our goal is to create long-term positive change in VSB.

Together, we will seek to better understand ourselves, our differences, and the value those differences bring to the collect experience of our community. Structurally, ODEI will direct us as we implement policies, behaviors, and mindsets to transform our community to a fully inclusive anti-racist multicultural organization. We encourage you to visit VSB’s ODEI website, to learn more and stay abreast of upcoming events, initiatives and resources.
