Villanova, an Augustinian Catholic university, is a welcoming, caring community of learners. Its educational approach, based on the teachings of St. Augustine, is to engage both mind and heart. The Villanova experience isn’t only about students’ intellectual growth. It’s about their development as well-rounded persons..

At Villanova, students are challenged to think-critically by a rigorous academic experience rooted in the liberal arts and shaped by a community in which they and their professors are partners in learning. Students receive instruction from faculty experts in nationally ranked programs and colleges, and state-of-the-art facilities. Villanovans earn some of the world’s most prestigious academic awards, and the University is ranked consistently as a top producer of US Fulbright scholars

The Villanova experience prepares students to become ethical leaders who create positive change everywhere life takes them. The highly networked Career Center connects students with opportunities that match their interests and skills. These fits often lead to full-time jobs. Within six months of graduation, 95 percent of Villanovans are enrolled in graduate school or employed full-time. Employers of Villanova interns and graduates explain why: “Villanovans have the ability to ‘get it done.'"

The Augustinian ideal of community makes Villanova the perfect place to make connections and friendships that last a lifetime. From cheering on the Wildcats, to doing research with a professor, to raising awareness about societal issues, Villanovans live and learn together. They also have immediate access to a worldwide community of alumni eager to mentor students and young graduates along their career paths. It’s a culture of Villanovans helping Villanovans—for life.

The first-year experience at Villanova University is unlike any other. It begins with the legendary New Student Orientation program, which is developed and delivered by students for students. At the intellectual and social epicenter of the first-year experience is the Augustine and Culture Seminar Program. This two-semester course sequence places students in small classes driven by thought-provoking discussion and dialogue. Freshmen are housed with their classmates to extend relationships and conversations beyond the classroom. They also can choose to live in a learning community.
