TRANSFER STUDENTS

We can’t wait to welcome you to the Class of 2025! Please use the below areas as a guide to help plan ahead of your first days as a 2L at Villanova. Many of the items can be completed in advance; some are required, while others are encouraged.

Keep checking back as updates are made. 

• Be sure to reserve your seat to secure your place in the Class of 2025.
• Upload a final, official undergraduate transcript to the Law School Admission Council (LSAC) by Orientation. Prior to enrollment, a copy of your official final undergraduate transcript should be sent to our office directly from your undergraduate institution. If you already submitted a final, degree-granting transcript to LSAC (as part of your original CAS report), you have already met this requirement.
• Your official first-year law school transcript should be forwarded to our office or LSAC. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will review your law transcript and notify you of credit transfers and course requirements. Villanova Law will only accept credits earned the first year of law school, in which the student achieves a grade of C, its equivalent, or better from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Students can order books through the Villanova Bookstore website and have them shipped to their house. Students can also sign up for a time slot to come into the store to purchase books. It's highly recommend all student order their books online to help with controlling the crowds and wait time. Orders are processed within 24 hours and are usually shipped the same day if the order is confirmed prior to 4 p.m. The Bookstore will also have in store pick up available once closer to Orientation.
• First day assignments and textbook lists for your classes will become available in early August and continue to be updated. 
  
• Review the Student Handbook and make sure that you understand all of Villanova’s Academic Rules and Graduation Requirements.
• Familiarize yourself with the many resources available at the Villanova Law Library.

• Review all information in Registration Rules and Policies, including Waitlist Procedures should the class you wish to take be full. Failure to follow these rules can affect your registration as well as your eligibility to graduate.
• Review course schedules and register for classes (Fall 2023). You must register for at least 12, but no more than 18 credits each semester. Be sure to check prerequisites for courses before registering. 
• Any mandatory first-year courses at Villanova Law that you have not fulfilled must be taken in your second year. 
• Some required courses may be closed by the time you register for classes. You will be able to take all required courses, however, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to take your preferred section in your preferred semester.
• You will be pre-registered in Professional Development II. Students will be registered for ½ a credit in the fall and ½ a credit in the spring. Transfer students must take Professional Development II in their 2L year and Professional Development III in their 3L year. You are not required to take Professional Development I.
• You will be required to take the 1L module in January of your 2L year and the 2L module in January of your 3L year. 
• All 2L students must take Legal Writing 3 in their second year.
• Important note on class rank and Latin Honors: A student admitted with advanced standing (transfer students) will not be given a class rank based on cumulative weighted average and will not be eligible for prizes or awards based thereon. Transfer students will be eligible for summa, magna and cum laude honors at graduation. Please see the Student Handbook for more detailed information. 

• Transfer Orientation: Wednesday, August 9
• Join the Class of 2025 Facebook group and begin meeting your new classmates!
• Driving to campus? Register for parking. 
• Registration for the 2022 Summer Writing Competition begins in early August.
• Learn information about the Moot Court Board and how to join in late July.

• Upload a photo for your Villanova Student ID card (Wildcard). If you complete this process by early August, you will receive your Wildcard during Orientation. Otherwise, you will need to visit the Wildcard Office in Dougherty Hall to obtain your Wildcard.
• Sign up for Nova Alert. Nova Alert delivers important emergency alerts, notifications and updates to any mobile device or email you choose to register. Students may also add devices for parents or family members wishing to receive Nova Alerts.
• Check your Villanova email regularly. Important information about financial aid and summer deadlines are sent to your Villanova email over the summer. Emails become available once deposit is paid.
• Check your access to MyNova, where you can view your financial aid status, registration and courses (Blackboard).
• Students are not required to have a laptop, but many choose to do so. Information on connectivity can be viewed by consulting Technology Services.

• Review your overall financial aid status on MyNova.
• Review bursar and billing information for your account.
• You can sign up to allow the University to electronically send a tuition refund directly to your bank account. The Sign-up for Direct Deposit of Refunds Form is available in MyNova, on the Bursar Dashboard. For more information, please see the Bursar's Office FAQs. 

• Enroll in or opt out of health insurance coverage offered through United Healthcare by September 8. Villanova automatically enrolls and bills students for coverage unless the student waives coverage online. Health insurance is mandatory for all students.
• All Villanova students are able to use the health and wellness resources available at the Student Health Center and University Counseling Center. 
• Villanova Law students have access to the five fitness centers on-campus. 

• As a transfer student, you are eligible for all of the services of the Office of Career Strategy and Advancement including Recruitment Programs, once you have made your final deposit. 
• Register and complete your profile with 12Twenty, an online tool Villanova Law uses to inform and counsel you, as well as help to connect you with employers. Your user id is your Villanova email. 
• Important note regarding On-Campus Interviews: Transfer students are encouraged to participate in all programs hosted by the Career Strategy Office. No, the Office of Career Strategy and Advancement does not pre-screen students for OCI. Employers who participate in OCI prescreen applicants and choose who they wish to interview.

• Visit the Villanova University Off-Campus Housing Website for off-campus housing resources.
