Housing & Meals

Accommodations are available at Villanova University in the West Campus Apartments located adjacent to St. Mary's Hall. Each apartment has two bedrooms that sleep a total of four people.  Rates are $59 per night per person for a shared bedroom.   You may guarantee a single bedroom within an apartment by paying the single rate of $86.  Apartments are air-conditioned and include a kitchen, living room and 1.5 baths.  Housing reservations should be made at the same time that you register.  If you are registering by mail or fax, please use the Housing Request Form found in the brochure.

Bedrooms are furnished with beds, linens, towels, a desk, and chairs. Please bring a lamp, blanket, clock, and all personal items. In the past, we have made every attempt to assign one person per bedroom. Due to increased enrollment a roommate may be assigned. 

Housing is not available at our off-campus sites. 

Housing check-in 

  • Sunday arrivals:  Housing check-in will be held in Welsh Hall, the last of the apartments behind St. Mary’s Hall on West Campus, on Sunday evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  
  • Monday arrivals:  You may pick up your key at sign-in.  If you plan to visit your room before your course begins, please arrive no later than 7:15 am.

  • sheets
  • pillows and pillowcases
  • blanket
  • two bath towels
  • washcloth
  • toilet paper
  • internet cable
  • garbage bags
  • a lamp

Items to Bring:

  • Pots and pans if you wish to cook
  • utensils
  • alarm clock
  • small book light for bedrooms
  • extra towels or pillows
  • soap, shampoo
  • any other personal items

All residents will be issued a card which will allow access to our dorm, Welsh Hall, as well as Villanova’s library and on-campus fitness center. As an alternative to on-site housing, check our information on local hotels near Villanova, PA.

Meals

A reasonably priced a la carte menu is available from the Villanova Dining Services in St. Mary's Hall where courses are held.  All courses break for lunch for at least one half hour per day.   Ample dining opportunities exist locally and on campus.

Off-Campus Technology Course Sites

There are no Villanova housing or meal services available off-campus.

Pre-course work & texts:  Pre-course work and assignments will be posted on the pages with our course descriptions approximately 3 weeks prior to your course.   Click on "Course Information" then your specific session.  Assignments will be posted in the right hand column.  All pre-course work for each session is in one document.  Be sure to scroll through to find assignments for your course.  Note that if a text is required, it will be mailed to you prior to the course.

UArts' MM in Music Education Program
University of the Arts offers The MM in Music Education Program, which can be completed during summers-only at Villanova.

Policies

Attendance Policy
All students are expected to attend all class sessions regularly and promptly, and for the duration of the scheduled instructional time.  Our courses are intensive and every hour in the classroom is critical.  Our policy is that full letter grade will be deducted for each half day missed (or accumulated latenesses equivalent to a half-day), regardless of the individual circumstance.

Refund Policy
All refunds are less nonrefundable deposits and fees and calculated as follows:

100% refund less the $100 nonrefundable course deposit for withdrawal up to 14 days prior to the first class.

0% refund for withdrawal within fewer than fourteen days.

All withdrawals must be submitted in writing via fax (610-519-7596), email (summermusic@villanova.edu), or letter.

Course Cancellation Policy
Villanova University reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient enrollment.  If a cancellation should occur, students will be notified at least seven days in advance and have the option taking another course or receiving a full refund (including the full deposit). 

Academic Information - University of the Arts

The University of the Arts is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.  The Office of Music Activities at Villanova University offers these non-matriculated graduate-level courses through the Professional Institute for Educators at the University of the Arts.  In many cases, these credits may be used towards Masters Equivalency programs and may be considered for transfer into some degree programs, depending upon specific curriculum requirements.
