The St. Thomas of Villanova Scholars (STOVS) program is a three-week summer program (July 7-26, 2014) where invited incoming freshmen begin their college career. During STOVS, students have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with college level courses, connect with University faculty and administrators, and meet some of their new best friends. STOVS is a residential program that provides student participants the chance to live in the residence halls and begin to know campus before arriving for New Student Orientation.
During this summer program, students take a 3-credit, Augustine and Culture Seminar (ACS) class, or a 3-credit Economics class (based on major selection and committee recomendation). The ACS course is required of all freshmen students, is accepted by all four colleges and can be credited toward whatever major students choose to pursue. The Economics course is required by the Villanova School of Business and can be used towards other colleges. In addition to the ACS course or ECON course, STOVS also take a non-credited mathematics course, in preparation for college-level math required by their major and college.
Throughout the three-week program, students meet and work with professional counselors and campus leaders to get a jump start on their college career. Through one-on-one meetings, students will begin to identify and work towards their academic, social, and career goals. Students are invited to apply to the STOVS program in early May, after submitting their deposit to attend Villanova University. Selection to participate in the program is competitive and highly selective.
St. Thomas of Villanova Scholars Program Application is due May 31st (Word or PDF). Students should submit all application materials including the information sheet. Application parts I and II, pledge, and waiver online are due by 5pm EST on May 31st to Kristina Ruiz-Mesa.
