Administration
Awareness (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible for promoting causes related to the Special Olympics mission. Also manages all signage for the event.
Computers & Registration (Chairperson & 3 Assistants)
Responsible for all aspects of computer operations, including the website and Games Management System (GMS), and coordinating athlete registration.
Evaluations (Chairperson & Assistant)
Coordinates all logistics for the Evaluations team. Must ensure that a thorough, professional evaluation takes place in order to enhance future Festivals.
Finance (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible for keeping records of all revenues and expenses, as well as purchase orders, in-kind donations, and sales of SOPA merchandise.
Housing (Chairperson & 3 Assistants)
Responsible for meeting the accommodation needs of those involved with the Festival. Maintains contact and working relationship with local hotel representatives.
Competition
Bocce (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning, etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules through prior participation, coaching, and/or management. (Bocce is held at an off-campus venue).
Long Distance Running (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning, etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules through prior participation, coaching, and/or management.
Power Lifting (Chairperson & Assistant)
Responsible for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning, etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules through prior participation, coaching, and/or management.
Roller Skating (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning, etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules through prior participation, coaching, and/or management. (Roller Skating is held at an off-campus venue).
Soccer (Chairperson & 4 Assistants)
Responsible for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning, etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules through prior participation, coaching, and/or management.
Volleyball (Chairperson & 3 Assistants)
Responsible for all venue operations including scheduling competition, referees, divisioning, etc. Recommended to have a good working knowledge of the sport and rules through prior participation, coaching, and/or management.
Human Resources
Local Program Hosts (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible for selecting and overseeing approximately 70 Villanova freshmen that will act as liaisons between the counties and Villanova University during the weekend.
Off Campus Volunteers (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible for the coordination, recruitment, training, and allotment of all off-campus volunteers needed for the competition.
On Campus Volunteers (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible for the coordination, recruitment, training, and allotment of all on-campus volunteers needed for the competition.
VIP/Hospitality (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible for meeting the hospitality needs of the athletes, coaches, and families; also coordinates all events for athlete families and VIPs.
Media/Publicity (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible for the on-campus distribution of information related to the event, as well as on-campus promotional and advertising efforts for the event. Also responsible for maintaining contact with the SOPA Communications liaison and assisting in SOPA's public relations efforts as needed.
Volunteer Venue Coordinator (1 Chair and 2 Assistants)
Special Events
Awards (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible for distributing all awards to athletes during the event and coordinating all awards presentations.
Ceremonies (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies held during the event.
Entertainment (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Organizes all entertainment functions including Olympic Town, the Victory Dance, and dining hall performances.
Fundraising (Chairperson & 3 Assistants)
Responsible for obtaining sponsorships and in-kind donations for the event. Also sets up STRIDES 5K charity race and develops additional fundraising events.
Healthy Athletes (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
In charge of the Healthy Athletes Clinics and respective clinicians that provide free screening and testing for the athletes.
Support Services
Facilities (Chairperson & 3 Assistants)
Responsible for the organization and delivery of all equipment and the set-up and break-down of all venues.
Food (Chairperson & 3 Assistants)
Responsible for obtaining sponsorships for snacks and coordinating efforts with Villanova Dining Services for on-campus meals.
Medical (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Coordinates all medical and first-aid related efforts for the event.
Security (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Coordinates all communications equipment and security personnel needed for the event.
Transportation (Chairperson & 2 Assistants)
Responsible for all transportation needs associated with the event, most notably golf carts and vans.
