Our Augustinian and Catholic heritage challenges us to think of leadership in unique and distinctive ways. According to Saint Augustine:
“I am a Christian for my own sake, whereas I am a leader for your sake; the fact that I am a Christian is to my own advantage, but I am a leader for your advantage.”
Indeed, Villanova University is committed to developing leaders who – instilled with a strong foundation of ethics and Augustinian thought – have a positive impact on society. Therefore, Villanova seeks to develop leaders who share a concern for the common good and who share an enthusiasm for the challenge of responsible and productive citizenship in order to build a just and peaceful world.
The Villanova Servant Leadership Institute is a one-day pilot program designed for freshman, sophomore, and junior student leaders. This program will provide students with an opportunity to reflect on the central Augustinian themes of veritas, unitas, and caritas through the lens of student leadership. By participating in this program, students can deepen their understanding of the ways in which these core values inform the student leadership experience at Villanova.
The Servant Leadership Institute will be held on Saturday, April 6 from 9:00-3:00 pm at the Spirituality Center at Immaculata University. Transportation and meals will be provided. Space is limited! If interested, please register by Monday, March 25, 2013.
