Transfer In
Transfers to Villanova University may occur in two (2) situations.
- The international student is presently attending another U.S. institution.
- The international student has entered on another U.S. institution’s I-20 and has NOT enrolled in that U.S. institution. In order to complete a transfer in this situation the following aspects must be met:
- The other U.S. institution MUST be willing to release the international student’s SEVIS record to Villanova. Please note: If the other U.S. institution will NOT release the SEVIS record to Villanova, Villanova will NOT become involved in pleading the student’s case. Villanova deems such matters as another institution’s internal policy.
- The student MUST have completed ALL admission requirements with the student’s desired department at Villanova.
- The student MUST be able to complete the enrollment requirements NO later than the end of the add/drop period for the semester to which he or she is seeking admission.
Before any transfer can proceed the international student seeking a transfer must ensure the admitting office at Villanova University has the following:
- Complete application
- Financial documentation demonstrating the ability to finance his or her education for one (1) academic year
- Copy of present I-20
- Copy of I-94 card
- Copy of U.S. F-1 visa

NO transfer should be undertaken by an international student unless the international student has submitted ALL the documentation listed above. NO SEVIS record release should be requested of the current U.S. institution until the student has received the following documentation from Villanova University:
- Official Admission letter
- Transfer form – Please note: NO transfer form will be released to a student until the Villanova International Student Office has been notified that the student has been admitted to Villanova by the appropriate Villanova admitting office.
Finally, potential transferring students to Villanova should note:
- If it is your intent to travel outside the United States BEFORE you begin your freshman year at Villanova University please advise the Admissions Office and the International Student Office as soon as possible.
- Villanova can not and will not produce an I-20 for students presently in the U.S. on another institution’s I-20. Students presently in the U.S. MUST have their SEVIS record released to Villanova. Please note: NO SEVIS records should be released until such time that the student:
- Has received an official letter of acceptance from Villanova AND
- Villanova transfer form.
- Villanova International Student Office should be contacted by a transferring student who plans to travel outside the U.S. The Office will attempt to work with the transferring student and his or her present institution to ensure he or she will have the correct documentation for his or her reentry into the U.S. to start his or her studies at Villanova.
- Transferring students are expected to attend the orientation session for the semester for which they are admitted. During this orientation session transferring students will be given an interview time during which they MUST present the following documentation:
- Passport
- I-94 card
- ALL previous I-20s.
During this interview transferring students will be given their Villanova I-20.
