Lindsey Press (’15 A&S) recently attended the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computer Science, the nation’s largest gathering of women in technology. The conference strives to build a community around women in computing as well as provide networking opportunities, career and educational advice, and inspiration to its attendees. This year, Villanova University sent 10 students to Minneapolis, Minnesota for an invaluable experience that greatly expanded their perspective. For Lindsey, it resulted in multiple interviews and internship offers with major companies. She was able to see the breadth of the largely underrepresented population of women in technology, and realized how many opportunities are available as a result of it. “It was incredible being able to network with companies specifically seeking female computer science majors,” stated Lindsey, “the experience and advice that I received from networking and interviewing will be invaluable for my future.”
