Chamber Music Series

The Villanova University Chamber Music Series last produced a full season in 2010. While we are not actively promoting a series, we occasionally host events that fall into this category.

The Chamber Series was supported in part by audience donations at each event. Unless otherwise noted, all performances were in St. Mary’s Chapel, County Line and Spring Mill Roads (Rt 320). For directions to campus, click here.

2009 - 2010 Chamber Series @ St. Mary's Chapel

This year we are pleased to welcome the Pyxis Piano Quartet!  Join us for this free concert on Sunday, March 21, 2010 at 3pm in St. Mary's Chapel.  While this is a free event, reservations are required.  Reserve your seat by visiting  We do encourage your free-will donation at the door - your generosity will help fund the Chamber Series.  Wondering how much to donate? A ticket for a similar event in the city would cost about $20-$25 (plus parking or a train ticket). We welcome any contribution however, and a contribution to our series is certainly not required!   Children are welcome to our events.

The Pyxis Piano Quartet

The Pyxis Piano Quartet was founded in 2009 to perform chamber music of the highest caliber. Having forged outstanding individual careers as recitalists, soloists, chamber musicians, and orchestral players, the musicians of Pyxis have joined together to offer exciting programs which include works from the sonata, duo, and trio repertoire as well as standard and adventurous works for piano quartet. The group takes its name from the Pyxis constellation, also known as the Mariner’s Compass, and has as its symbol the compass rose.  The points of the compass rose mark the directions of the four winds and represent the new artistic directions the group will travel together while drawing upon the individual backgrounds and experiences of its musicians.

The Program
Maurice Ravel - Sonata for Violin & 'Cello
Gabriel Faure - Piano Quartet No. 1 in c minor
